A Western Cape sailor, Rhys Whitfield represents UCT in competitive dinghy racing. Since April 2023, 106 races across 13 regattas have been recorded for Rhys. Rhys competes mainly in the ILCA 7 fleet, alongside races in Sonnet and ILCA 6. Rhys's best results include winning the 2023 Msc Dinghy Classes & Hobie 16 Western Cape Regional Championships in the ILCA 6 fleet, as well as the 2024 Zvyc Southern Charter Classic in the ILCA 6 fleet. Rhys remains an active competitor in the Western Cape sailing circuit.
