Shorthanded Sailing South Africa (SSSA) is a volunteer-led online sailing community, not a registered yacht club, association or formal organisation. It brings together Corinthian solo and double-handed sailors across South Africa to promote and develop shorthanded sailing through meet-up racing, offshore challenges and the exchange of practical knowledge. Its mission is to grow participation and foster a welcoming community built on seamanship, equality, mutual assistance and good faith. SSSA organises Grand Prix meet-ups and is associated with races including the Magellan Cup, Canyon Cup and Dassen Island Race. Its published guidelines encourage appropriate safety equipment, AIS, VHF communications, adequate certification and insurance; skippers remain responsible for the safety and conduct of their vessels.
